Ciao, Chow

Toronto (May.11.06)

We’ve always had a soft spot for Yorkville in the summer. The stores. The constant buzz. The patios. And now there’s a new kid on the block to add to our warm-weather mecca: Imperia Restaurant. You may not have noticed this latest addition to the area’s foodie scene, because it is, by Yorkville standards, a bit off the beaten path (a few steps West of Yonge). But Imperia is worth the trek – even in your hottest designer heels.

We can’t say enough about the friendly service and Yorkville-appropriate trendy decor. And we love the restaurant’s relaxed atmosphere (no need to worry about wearing jeans here).

The menu? Simple and traditional Italian dishes. Starters like proscuitto and olives served with salami and bocconcini will whet your palate for a main course of basil and cheese pizza, or ricotta gnocchi with tomato sauce. Cap it all off with their almost-to-good-to-be-true gelato, and you’ll be prepped for a hard day of shopping and star-gazing (or a night cruising the strip).

And because everything is moderately priced (a three-course meal with wine costs less than $50) you’ll have plenty of money left over to spend on your other Yorkville adventures.
