When it comes to food indulgence, we consider ourselves multiculturally minded.
Like the French, if it doesn’t contain butter, chocolate or cream, it’s not worth it. And like the Japanese, if it’s not beautiful in look and taste, we’ll pass, thanks.
Precisely why we’re singing the praises of La Bamboche: the finest little patisserie that’s part French, part Japanese and entirely worth every calorie-bite.
Initially it was the croissant ($2) that got us for its crusty shell and flaky inside, but that’s before we sampled the macaron cookies ($2) made of real almond meringue and flavours including green tea, wild blueberry and pomegranate. To leave without trying the mini gateau ($5) with its layers of chocolate, strawberry and real lavender cream would be crime-worthy; same for the Mont Blanc ($5.20, a rarity outside of Paris) and the pomme fromage ($4.75) for its roasted Ontario organic apples, vanilla cheese mousse and brandy butter topping.
Using only the finest, all-natural ingredients, French Chef Stephen Nason prepares everything without preservatives. Combined with his Japanese training, he creates beautiful, edible perfection.
With so much more to enjoy (including quiche, tartes and truffles), you can bet a return-trip is booked already. No passport required.
