Step Up

We’ve entered a Six Steps program for wining and dining. And we’re committed.
Step one: Pick a hot, new dining locale. Take the former Spinello, give it a renovation overhaul, have a TV crew document the entire thing and enter a space as cool as it is comfortable.
Step two: Do your homework. Consulting chef Paul Boehmer (Opus) + executive chef Paul Lietaer (Accolade) = Delicious food.
Step three: Be bold. Solo and/or action-oriented diners, like us, love the hustle and bustle of the Colborne Street restaurant’s dining/bar option facing the open and very lively kitchen.
Step four: Indulge. From grain-fed veal chop and monkfish, to a variety of pastas and thin crust pizza, there’s something for everyone on the Italian/Mediterranean menu and extensive wine list. Word to the wise: The steak frites ($26) with its perfectly pink strip loin and side stilton/walnut spinach salad (we’re saving the frites until post-beach vacation) is heavenly.
Step five: Act cheesy. The cheese and fruit platter finale ($7), featuring aged gouda and sheep’s milk sinner, to name a few, crushed our willpower to resist le fromage.
Step six: Form new habits. With its impressive dark hardwood, beautiful exposed brick, large open bar and private lower lounge, we now have a welcome change to Thursday night cocktails and dinner.
Talk about six steps in the right direction.
