Positive Reinforcements

In every day, a little rain (or recently, a lot of snow) must fall. But despite the ups and downs, we stick to our belief that life is sweet.
And if we’re ever in need of a visual (and edible) reminder of our positive mantra, we can now head to Life is Sweet – A Cupcake House. This cozy new establishment in the east end serves up (with a smile, we must say) homemade treats in a very homey atmosphere, capable of sweetening up even the worst day. (Really, what problem can’t a cupcake solve?)
We tested out the must-haves: Dark Chocolate with chocolate cream cheese frosting, and Vanilla Bean with a buttercream top ($2.25 each; $1.25 for an adorable mini). For our more exotic taste buds, we loved the Earl Gray with mandarin icing, the Lemon Drop, and Choco Mint. (At $12 for six, we had to take advantage of the economies of bulk purchasing.)
The entire line-up has a light and fluffy base and rich frosting that will fill you with flavour, rather than kill you with sweetness (you can have too much of a good thing, after all). And if you want to complete your morning/afternoon/whenever snack, they also serve up fair trade Mountain Estates coffee ($1.75 for large).
So if you’ve forgotten how sweet life is, remember: The proof may not be in the pudding, but you’ll find it in a cupcake.
