A Second Sweet Spot

The radar in our sweet tooth is clanging like a fire alarm! News is there are some new cupcakes in town. And not just any cupcakes - these are Cupcakes cupcakes! Cupcakes on Denman has been feeding our (not-so-secret) indulgences for nearly five years. So we were thrilled to hear that they were opening a second confectionary heaven on West Broadway, with all the gooey goodness, pretty pastels, and favourite flavours from the original store. (For those of us on the west side, that means no bridge to cross to get to sweet nirvana.)

We love the Diva - chocolaty bliss topped with pretty pink whipped butter-cream icing and glistening with pink candy jewels. And to feed our summery tropical craving, it’s Blue Hawaii - a lush vanilla treat topped with a wave of blue icing and sprinkled with coconut.

But our manicured-hands-down favourite is the stuff of our girlhood memories. The Great Pumpkin is a sweet dream of spiced pumpkin with cream cheese frosting sprinkled with cinnamon.

If you prefer to eat cake, they will make those too, in pretty much any of the flavours they offer in cupcakes. And if you’re trying to please a sweet tooth as well as your skinny jeans, opt for a few of the temptingly adorable minis (also available by the dozen).
