We know there's nothing like a good ol' cheeseburger when it comes to late-night grease cravings. But as part of our resolution to start treating our body like a temple rather than a trashcan, we're skipping the drive-thru and hitting up the latest homegrown fast and healthy food chain to land on the block. 
That's right: Now that Kolachy Co. has remodelled its original Beatty Street location and opened not one, but two additional spots at Bentall III and Kingsgate Mall (with more on the way), it will be easy to make the switch from nuggets and fries to delicious, homemade Kolaches: A baseball-sized, whole-wheat bun filled with savoury or sweet surprises.
We can start each morning with the delicious omelette-filled Western Kolachy ($2.95) plus a Cuppa Joe ($1.55) provided by Vancouver's 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters. For lunch we'll hop back over for the menu regulars - a BBQ Beef Kolachy and the Chicken Club - as well as one of the weekly rotating specials (we love the Hot Wings and Blue Cheese Kolachy, $3.75).
With nutrition this easy and cheap, we'll take these piping-hot buns over an oily burger any day. Now if only they would open up a drive-thru....
