When it comes to New Year's resolutions, we've been known to, well, cheat a little. An hour on the stairmaster? That now includes a 20-minute warm-up. No more nail biting? We're attacking our cuticles instead. And cutting out those pre-cooked, super-convenient meals? Yeah, right.
But then we discovered Kerrisdale's new Stock Up café, where the prepared dinners come closer to home cooking than our own culinary efforts. Allan Pasacreta and chef Cameron Greaves serve up beef stroganoff ($9.75), four-cheese lasagna ($7.99), and even osso bucco ($12.99) in individual portions-just pop the tray in your oven ($5 or $10 deposit required) and voila, dinner is served. Feeding a family of four? Go for the four pounds of pork ribs ($58) covered in a savoury tomato sauce.
And if we neglected to mention we've been lunching here, too, well, we've been pairing the grilled ham and cheese panini ($6.95) with one of three soups on daily rotation. Favourites so far include the Czech meat and vegetable ($6.25) and the cream of mushroom ($5.25), which had the whole neighbourhood racing when it made a brief appearance on shelves.
Now that lunch and dinner are this healthy and delicious, guess it's back to that stairmaster....
