Happy Planet Fresh SoupsVancouver

We don’t always do as the diet ordered and have a salad for lunch. What can we say? Sometimes we just need a few mouthfuls of something hot to battle through our day.
And now that the city’s favourite juice company, Happy Planet, has launched Fresh Soups, a collection of six all-natural, vegetarian soups ($5.99 each), we’re definitely skipping the salad bar and grabbing the ladle.
Trying each soup flavour was a bit like touring the world. Our exotic journey first took us to Armenia with the Armenian Red Lentil. The lentils and eggplant mixed with the apricots added a hardy sweetness to the low-fat vegetarian fare. Then we traveled to Morocco with the Moroccan Chick Pea and next, we hit Italy with the Tuscan Tomato.
Thailand was our next stop with the Thai Coconut. The red curry, coconut, baby corn and bamboo shoots really hit the spot. Finally, heading back to North America, we savoured the Berkeley Butternut Squash and the Louisiana Corn Chowder; a true Mississippi tradition infused with smoky chipotle peppers.
Easy to prepare (just heat and serve) and tasty? Sorry, salad – we just can’t see as much of you anymore. (We promise we’ll call. Soon.)
