Meet Met

We love The Met (what’s not to appreciate about that New York cultural institution?), the metro (yay, subterranean transit) and metrosexuals. But, since we can’t count yummy clean-shaven men as snacks, our strange obsession with all things beginning with M-E-T ends when we E-A-T.
Until Metro Restaurant opened up, that is. After stepping foot into this brand new waterfront resto-lounge from Executive Chef Brian Fowke and restaurateur Tim Keller of Rare Restaurant fame, we mentally amended our favourite spots to wine and dine. And that was just from marvelling at the white Italian leather seats, the design-savvy Mikasa flatware, and the city-, sea-, and mountain-scapes visible just beyond the spacious patio.
Nibbling the Truffled Parmesan Pomme Frites ($6) and sipping our Cucumber Swizzle ($10), we perused the contemporary Canadian menu. While the signature steaks sounded inviting, we took advantage instead of Metro’s Cut to Order program, feeding our appetite for adventure by ordering four ounces each of the Provini Veal Tenderloin ($4.84), Nicola Valley Deer ($3.48), and Rabbit Roulade ($3.50).
Then, with our curiosities fully satiated, we finished with the Baked Cheesecake Mousse ($9). Deliciously creamy and topped with caramelized apple purée, it was too good to share with our metro man.
