Lately, we’ve been feeling a little bit country.
So dinner at the new Dundas West restaurant Campagnolo (the name means “country bumpkin” in Italian) was right up our alley.
One bite of the gooey burrata cheese appetizer topped with roasted grapes ($13) had us plotting ways to hop a jet to Puglia, pronto. The other rustic dishes we sampled—hearty cannellini beans with smoked hock, kale and pasta ends ($18) and wild boar, spare ribs, tripe and meatball ragu on soft polenta ($24)—prompted us to plan several more sojourns so we could eat our way through Italy.
In the meantime, we can have a taste of the country without ever leaving the city.
