We love picnics in the park — in theory. In reality, we much prefer dining at Parkette.
At this cosy Italian restaurant, just steps from Trinity-Bellwoods Park, we found ourselves seated on a lovely park-bench banquette amongst a crowd of locals.
Every menu item we tried was splendid, from the spicy porco-braised pork, chili and peperoncini pizza ($15) to the malfatti pasta with duck ragu ($14), which was exactly what our carb-hungry tastebuds were craving. Serious carnivores, on the other hand, will be satiated after a plate of the tender, juicy braised beef cheeks and polenta ($16).
We might just have to give up our picnic basket for good.
