There’s regular old comfort food, and then there’s poutine – our arteries start to clog just dreaming about it.
When we heard about the opening of Poutineville, a new eatery dedicated to the traditional Quebecois dish, we were there in a flash. A handful of à la carte poutines are on the menu, but we created our own from the countless fries, sauces, cheeses, vegetables and meats on offer.
We combined crispy sweet potatoes, cheese curds, roasted peppers, grilled onions and bacon topped with red wine gravy ($13). Our companion devoured smashed potatoes, grilled zucchini, olives, goat cheese and three-pepper sauce ($12). The huge portions meant our cravings were more than satisfied.
Customized comfort food? Dreams do come true.
