We’d love to eat fresh organic produce every day, but weren’t blessed with a green thumb – or an unlimited budget.
Luckily we discovered Des Bons Voisins, a co-operative and café selling fresh veggies and meats from local farmers.
The vegetable and white bean salad ($4) with marinated carrot, celery and cauliflower we sampled was an explosion of flavour, while the homemade fettuccini amatriciana with sausage ($6) was sinfully tasty. We washed it all down with homegrown beer: Bière blanche de Québec ($5).
We can’t wait for the Friday-night wine tastings, which highlight the co-op’s local (and mostly organic) wines, and we’ll return on Saturdays for live music by local artists.
We’ll definitely be making room for this in our budget.
