Trends come and go, but cupcakes are eternal.
Macarons made a valiant attempt to dethrone them and 2011 was predicted to be the year of the pie, but cupcakes continue to reign supreme. And Prairie Girl Bakery is Toronto’s new cupcake queen.
The cake flavour options – Grandma's Dark Cocoa and Mom's Golden Buttermilk – are topped with mouthwatering frostings (choose from classic chocolate and vanilla or more exotic offerings like peanut butter and peppermint), making us want to try each and every combination ($2.95). And the speciality cupcakes (red velvet, banana and carrot) were too tempting for us to pick just a single treat – so we snapped up a dozen for $32.
Our taste-test verdict? Eternal love, of course.
