We get our caffeine fixes from the usual coffee chains, but sometimes we want a place where the baristas actually know our name.
At The Coffee Bar, the baristas are not only friendly, but they also make a mean cup of java.
An airy space in the historic Garage Building is where creative crowds head for 49th Parallel Coffee Roasters espresso (from $2.25) before hunkering down to type on MacBooks (WiFi is free) and take meetings while Arcade Fire plays in the background.
Thomas Haas-trained chef Andy Shea oversees a fresh pastry list, made daily from local ingredients; we’re addicted to the yogurt and fruit scone ($2.95).
This is one place we’ll seek out even when we don’t need a fix.
