In the wise words mistakenly attributed to Marie Antoinette: Let us eat cake.

But at Panino Bakery, now open at Canadian Rocky Mountain Resorts, masterpiece wedding cake creations (from $100) are only the tip of the sweet iceberg.

We love to kick-start the day with a cup of the Bowness Blend ($1.40-$2.20) and homemade granola ($4.95), then come back at lunch for the pear and prosciutto panini ($7.75) and a soup of the day ($3.95).

For dessert, we can indulge in mini cheesecakes and caramelized chocolate walnut tarts ($4.99), or go gluten-free with decadent chocolate quinoa cakes and apple pies ($11, $20 for gluten-free).

After all, a lifetime on the hips was the least of Marie Antoinette’s problems.
