You Make My Heart Sing

cafeToronto (Aug.12.08)

Untamed antics and going bump in the night go way back for us (don't worry, we're talking Where the Wild Things Are, not Girls Gone Wild). Wild Thing To satisfy our love of the wild (without forgoing air conditioning or our down-filled duvet) we're making regular trips to the very civilized new café, Wild Thing.

Marked by a retro Pepsi sign from the former owner, we were won over by the airy interior and homemade gelato (plus, the free WiFi didn't hurt). Our cappuccino ($3.25), made with organic milk and 49th Parallel beans, was thick and creamy enough to almost be a meal.

But in the name of research we persevered to try more. We devoured our mozzarella and pesto Panini ($6.50), served with mixed greens. We were torn between a gelato ($2.75) made with straightforward ingredients in original combinations (like Pineapple Basil or Pear Ginger) or the affogato ($4.50), a scoop of gelato served with espresso.

Would it be wild, or just plain gluttonous, to say we ate both?
