Must Desserts

dessertsToronto (Aug.19.08)

This morning we were asked what we would take with us to a desert island. Aug19_SNTor_Desserts.jpg

Maybe it's our obviously sweet-oriented mind, but we assumed they were asking what we would take with us to a dessert island. Blame The Sweet Escape Patisserie in the Distillery District for inspiring us to embrace the typo and dream up some definitive (and delicious) answers.

Being stranded wouldn't be so tough with a few chocolate crinkle cookies (think brownie in cookie form, $1.45 each) to nosh on.  Who needs matches when you have bonfire-not-required S'mores ($2.95)—a quadruple decker of chocolate, caramel and marshmallows? Water, shelter and even clothes could be forgotten after a slice of whisky-toffee drenched Distillery cake ($3.95). And we've already crafted what we'd slip into our message in a bottle: “SOS: Send more sunflower seed brittle” ($3.45)—the perfect mix of salty, sweet and crunchy.

Add a cooler of homemade ice cream (our fave: It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time—$3.50 for a scoop), and we'd happily volunteer to be deserted.

At least we wouldn't have to share.
