Gl(amour)ous
Glamour Resto-LoungeMontreal
(Sep.02.08)
We wanted a Friday night out with our special guy; somewhere stylish without all that pretension. But dining at some supper clubs involves the need for earplugs and a whole lot of patience. (Where did our waitress get to?)
Along a stretch of St-Laurent teeming with trendy restaurants, the new Glamour Resto-Lounge stood out with its low-key, romantic atmosphere (rose petals strewn across tables) and attentive service. (Delicious Mediterranean cuisine with Portuguese influence didn't hurt either.)
While we perused the appetizers, we munched leisurely on three kinds of olives and warm baguette. The patatas bravas ($6), diced potatoes in tomato sauce with onions and Portuguese spices, were quickly devoured (so much for romance). And the sautéed mixed mushrooms ($10) were a fungi-lovers dream.
We got back to amour while lingering over the mains. The tilapia ($20) with seasoned rice and grilled vegetables was cooked to perfection - flaky and flavourful. And the penne arrabiatta ($14) added just the right amount of spice to the evening. With natas ($4.50), a Portuguese meringue tart, for dessert, the courtship was complete.
Who knew a little bit of glamour could be so tasteful (and tasty)?
