It started innocently enough. A glass of chai here. A taste of peppermint there. But what began as a minor crush has suddenly turned into a full-on obsession.
David's Tea, the newest shop on the Queen West block, has us smitten.
We thought we were in control, but sips of the sensual, rare white organic pai mutan ($12/50 g) and quangzhou milk oolong ($10/25 g) set our senses in overdrive. And after a quick indulgence in the pricey super butterfly wuyi ($15/25 g, a variety of oolong) we imbibed in their cost-friendly (but no less worthy) flavoured green tea sampler ($15, for five).
The height of our joy? Stumbling onto the wall of David's teapots and accessories. We couldn't help but indulge in the perfectly-sized Bodum Bistro mugs ($35 for two) or the teeny-tiny pincer tea infuser ($3.75).
With 120 tea varieties up for grabs (and more on the horizon), we're positive this is more than just a fleeting fascination.
It's quite possibly, an affair to remember.
