Our favourite part of our trip to Italy? The lively coffee culture.
So we couldn’t be happier that the owners of the Italian Pantry have brought that spirit to Montreal, espresso cups and all. After opening their successful shop (and kitchen), Steve and Rino Marcone have expanded with a new café selling the finest Italian sweets and freshly baked goods this side of the Atlantic.
Their Marcone house-blend coffee ($17.25/lb) is freshly roasted and has a rich, smooth flavour. But choosing between the dolci ($1.75-$3.50) was difficult; mouth-watering cannoli, cornetti, tortas and bombalone all beckoned. Sipping a robust cappuccino ($3.50) at the counter, we couldn’t help but chat contentedly with our neighbours.
Montreal’s coffee community just got a whole lot tighter.
