It’s true — Michael Noble is back. This time as head chef at the newly opened Flatiron Restaurant and Bar.
(In case you’ve been living under a culinary rock, Mr. Noble is the only Canadian to compete on the original Iron Chef, won gold medals at the Culinary Olympics and has been written up in Gourmet and GQ. He also started up a little local restaurant called Catch.)
In true go big or go home fashion, Noble’s newest digs are both saucy and chill, in sexy shades of red and black.
The menu features an eclectic mix of comfort foods and fusion fare. We were dazzled by the incredible Artisan Salad ($11.50) with blackberry vinaigrette dressing drizzled over Roast Chicken ($5.50). So light it almost justified an award goes to the Cookies ‘n Cream - Three Ways dessert (three types of gelato paired with three kinds of homemade cookies ($12)).
Special mention for the steaks ($23-49) – Flatiron’s “protein program hand” selects the meats, which are then custom cut and shipped fresh overnight.
A very Noble way to go.
(*Mr. Noble plans to open another restaurant in Calgary this summer. Stay tuned for more.)
