We’re faced with countless decisions each day. Yoga or Pilates, fashion vs. function (have to go with fashion here), and the eternal struggle: brown bagging it or eating out.
But when we found Arlequino, lunchtime deliberations ceased to exist. Located downtown, this new, authentic Italian pizzeria had our mouths watering from the get-go. We started with the extraordinary fried bocconcini ($7), crispy on the outside with soft melted cheese inside, and the impeccably seasoned minced meat stuffed olives ($6).
With chefs direct from Italy plus a wood-burning oven, pizza perfection was served up slice by thin-and-crunchy slice. The Udine ($13) was inspired, with finely sliced potatoes, caramelized onions and ricotta. The Termoli ($15) is sure to be a Montreal mainstay, with flawless smoked salmon, cream cheese and onions. Last but not least, the Parma ($16) warmed our bellies via prosciutto, fresh arugula and just the right amount of cheese.
Our choice to leave the brown bag at home was reinforced when we discovered that Arlequino prides itself on a ‘green conscious’ environment, using only organic cleaning products and recycling all paper, plastic and glass.
And on days we’re stuck in the office, they’ll deliver – meaning decisions don’t get much easier (or tastier) than this.
