Checking out the city’s newest tapas restaurant invoked images of Mediterranean-themed décor and innumerable (though delectable) tiny dishes.
Instead, Pica Pica left us gripping our cutlery with its sleek and modern loft-style atmosphere and the wide array of main courses that had us raring to go from the word entrée. Sporting a refined St-Laurent Street ambience, complete with soft mood lighting and a seemingly never-ending bar, it’s managed to bring the vibe and client base of The Main over to The Village.
Starters and tapas included the beautifully arranged cherry tomato and feta cheese Mediteranea Salad ($8), the Carribbean-styled shredded roast pork Pernil Al Caribe ($9), and the intoxicating Mejillones ($8), tender parsley-seasoned mussels in a spicy Portuguese sauce.
Refusing to be labelled as a one-trick pony, Pica Pica also boasts an extensive range of main courses, with the AAA-Grade Angus Beef 8oz Filete Mignon ($21) and the 16oz ribsteak Filete de Costilla ($26) leading the way.
Not having to choose between style and sophistication plus exceptional cuisine makes a welcome change (we’re still working on getting that silverware out of our grip).
