Sometimes, we can’t help ourselves from dining at our favourite chain restaurants, with their easy-to-please menus and comfortable settings. And we love them that much more when they join forces with an A-list chef.
White Spot has tapped Melissa Craig (of Bearfoot Bistro in Whistler) to be the next bigwig food master to create fresh, new items for its Tastes Like Spring menu.
At only 29 years old, the talented Craig is not only the first female celebrity chef to join the White Spot team, but she also rocked the culinary world last year by becoming the 2008 Canadian Gold Medal Plates champion.
Using her award-winning cooking skills to put those talents where our mouths are, Craig – who happens to be a Red Seal Certified Chef – successfully hooked us on the Champagne Prawn Risotto ($16.99), loaded with big prawns and tender asparagus, and the Greek-inspired Santorini Salad ($8.99), topped with Amorosa tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese. She then shifted our taste buds from a Mediterranean to an Asian palate, promptly inducing us to say “domo arigato” to the Sukiyaki Beef Rice Bowl ($12.99).
It’s not an easy feat to top the Triple-O burger, but we have to admit: This new menu hit the spot.
