After spending the entire weekend in an intensive workshop at Sattva Yoga Shala working on the eight limbs of yoga (with our four limbs crying out for mercy), our appetite naturally made itself known and demanded our full attention.
By divine intervention, we were able to respect the Indian theme while satisfying our hunger at Old Montreal’s newest eatery. Nestled among the art galleries and restaurants in Place d’Youville, Mirchi’s charming and intoxicating vibe ran from the décor to the service and, ultimately, to the food.
Starting with some Vegetable Samosas ($5) and the entrée portion of the Chicken Tikka ($6), we luxuriated in the rich spiciness we had been craving. The expertly seasoned Lamb Vindaloo ($14) and King Prawn Tikka ($20) added the perfect touch of tang. However, it was the spicy buttered lentils in the Tarka Dal ($9), taken from the extensive choice of vegetarian options, that topped off the hearty, home-style cooking (resto-Indian food never tasted so fresh and wholesome).
Ending our weekend of spirituality at Mirchi proved to be the perfect transition to ease back into our workweek (and may have unintentionally become the 9th limb to our yoga practice).
