Oh, give me a home, where mojitos roam
And the beer and the alcohol play.
Where seldom is heard, a discouraging word
And the skies are not cloudy all day.
Home, home on the Open Range…
This popular upscale restaurant has just opened a swish saloon that offers an extensive wine list, old-style cocktails and the full menu of the attached (and celebrated) dining room.
If Clint Eastwood ever comes through town again, this is where we’ll take him. The lounge gives off an authentic Old West vibe – rough-hewn woods, comfy velvet arm chairs and a set of giant antlers hung over the fireplace. Theme music from old westerns maintains the ol’ gunslinger ambience.
Not to mention the food is first class. We recommend the Trail Bites: plates of yam fries with smoked paprika mayo ($7) and mini lamb burgers with gouda ($13).
What charmed the chaps right off of us, though, were the wine descriptions on the menu. What girl could resist a glass of the Blasted Church Chardonnay ($11), billed as a “voluptuous of-age meadow nymph,” or the “spicy first date, redhead,” a.k.a. Five Rivers Pinot Noir ($9.75)?
Home, sweet home, indeed.
