About Emma, Rebecca & Mia
Want a sneak peek inside the sweetspot.ca world? From product launch parties to personal must-haves, Emma Yardley, Rebecca Burstein and Mia Shulman dish on why working here is so sweet.
I’ve been to a LOT of weddings. I’ve had my own. So with wedding season drawing to a close (sort of; still have two to go) I’m happy to share my absolute favourite parts from them all:
Food & flowers. Confession: I find food and flowers kind of blah. Food is usually mediocre at best and flowers aren't really my thing. Except for this wedding. Like dining at a five-star restaurant – gazpacho, tenderloin, ice cream and fresh fruit. Cheese plates, fruit plates and then, sigh, the flowers. Stunning and everywhere. Vodka. I think of ice sculptures as tacky but when they’re flowing with vodka, I think they’re wicked awesome. In addition, mickeys on the table (for everyone) and blown-glass wine stoppers as takeaways.
Father/Daughter dance. No one has yet to beat the cute (and totally well choreographed) jazz routine to
Mack the Knife.
Chucks. We know the couple, but didn’t attend the wedding. The groomsmen (including the groom) wore Chucks. A little individuality goes a long way.
Slideshow. These montages can be touching, or an annoying waste of precious partying-time. At this particular wedding the cocktail reception was held at an art gallery and the slideshow was shown in a large screening room. Fabulous.
Place cards. Both bride and groom were music lovers so instead of the regular name card thing, they personalized Aero chocolate bars (which came in handy late that night) with our names and table numbers. And then placed them in empty guitar cases.
Are there any moments (or personal touches) that stand out in your minds? I’d love to hear them. Log in and let me know!
