All-Week Breakfast
tales from the pit canada
(Aug.31.09)
I love brunch. I love meeting up with friends on the weekends and tucking into a good plate of eggs and bacon over countless cups of coffee (and good stories from the week—and night—before).
But brunch's younger (um, earlier) sibling, breakfast, doesn't get as much love from me. Usually it's a bowl of cereal or a piece of toast eaten quickly before I rush out the door. Not fun, not exciting and definitely nowhere near as enjoyable as brunch.
So why not treat everyday breakfasts with a little more respect? Why not have breakfast dates during the week?
On the surface it doesn't seem so crazy. I fit my friends into all sorts of times of the day; the sandwiched-in afternoon coffee, the quick grab-and-go lunch, the dinner and drinks that bleeds into the smallest hours of the morning. Even the (very) late night snack that follows.
Pretty much any time of the week is just fine for hanging out. Just not before work for some reason.
Meeting up before heading to the office for a brunch-esque plate of pancakes doesn't seem like it should be that hard to arrange. But, even though I'm positive most of my friends are completely free at 7am on weekday mornings (save for, you know, sleeping), strangely enough no one is exactly chomping at the bit to meet up with me...
What do you think? Do you go out with your friends for breakfast? Would you if you had the chance? Or am I crazy (or cruel) for even trying to get my friends out of bed for this? Log in a leave a comment - I'd really love to hear your thoughts!
