5 Life-Changing Products

tales from the pit canada (Aug.16.10)

Mia shares the five products that have changed her life.

With all the product testing and comparing I do on the job, my makeup bag's become a bit of a revolving door. I'm not complaining, I love being a beauty guinea pig, but I'm worried I'm developing a reputation that I can't commit, and its just not true. In fact, over the past couple years, several products have entered my life and changed me for the better. I'm eternally grateful for these products (in a totally rational way), so much so that I'd like to share them:

Kiehl's Crème de Corps Body Lotion with SPF 30

A couple years ago I took this cream on a trip to Florida and returned, sunburn-free, smelling delicious and a complete Kiehl's convert. Out of fear they'll discontinue it, I have about ten bottles in storage.

Kiehl's Creme de Corps Body Lotion with SPF 30, US $27. Available at www.kiehls.com.

Andrea Professionals Wax Strips

Never have I ever used wax strips that didn't leave splotchy red marks and gooey wax. Anyone who took a sip was without a doubt using Andrea wax strips, because I've never come across a brand that left my skin feeling so smooth.

Andrea Waxing Strips for the body, $11. Available at most major drug stores.

L'Oréal Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Liner

I tried this and instantly became a liquid liner addict. It has a long handle that makes precise application easy and it never smudges.

L'Oreal Lineur Intense, $11. Available at most major drugstores.

YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch

I don't believe in magic, but I do believe in miracles, and this, my friends, is a miracle in a tube. Before finding this, I thought dark circles under my eyes were unavoidable. With a couple dabs of Touche Éclat, my face is brightened and I look like I had a solid 10 hours of sleep. (If only I felt like I had ten hours of sleep...)

YSL Touche Éclat, $40. Available at Holt Renfrew.

GUM Soft Picks

Before I discovered these, I was the type to floss frantically in the three days leading up to a dentist appointment and then claim I did it regularly twice a day. With these easy-to-use picks, I actually floss twice a day...OK, more like once a day, or every other day...definitely at least every other day.

GUM Soft Picks, $4. Available at most major drug stores.
