Nike Nights

On Monday night I found myself at an event that I definitely can't call work but that I wouldn't have been at if it wasn't for Sweetspot either - a Nike Running Night.

There it was, 6 p.m., windy, dark and my TiVo was calling (yes, I actually went out to buy my inner couch potato's best friend after reading our Cherry Picked). But I'd already replied that I would join a small group of other editors, pr people and the Nike team at the Nike Runner's Lounge for this monthly run, and the commitment was enough to make me suit up and just focus on the inevitable post-exercise endorphin rush.

I'm an intermittent runner at best, letting weather and moods dictate my routine (more than the word routine should suggest). But ever since trying out the Nike+ system, it's become a required part of my regimen. If I run and can't track the distance, see my stats and save it online, did it really happen? Luckily, they handle the hard stuff like route planning and pace setting and I just have to keep up (and the beauty of the Runner's Lounge is that anyone can drop in for maps, product demos and organized events). 6 point something kilometres later and we're done. And TiVo was still waiting.
