LG Fashion Week wrapped up last Friday, and although the clothes are the main event, there’s more to the week than fabric and models – here are a few other things that stood out (for me):
Favourite moment: Seeing a young girl dressed in a head-to-toe taffeta party dress at the David Dixon for Barbie show.
Most noticed difference from FW Spring 09: One word: TWITTER. This social media platform has exploded, and the tents were no exception – we kept up with the best (twest?) of them with (nearly) up to the moment updates (twupdates?). Nevermind.
Biggest star sighting: Jeremy Laing (for me, I love him!) but for everyone else, Howie Mandel. I wonder
how his mysophobia fared in the sardine packed tents - front row seats are still cramped and unlike the gym, not washed after each use.
Most stressful moment: Every morning trying to piece together a fashion-week appropriate wardrobe. For five days. Five! I think I did ok by my steadfast rule of accessorize, accessorize, accessorize.
Biggest surprise: Seeing so much denim in the front row (and not just on the men…).
If I could buy one thing: Hands down it’d be one of the adorable (but still feminine) silk mini skirts in bright fuchsia care of Pink Tartan
And I’d like to thank: Buckleys Cold and Sinus. Yes, getting sick probably couldn’t have happened at a worse time, but thanks to you little yellow gems, you pulled me through (without ever realizing my phobia of coughing in public). Next time I’ll have to try what Ashleigh swears by…
‘Till Spring ‘10!
