Wedding, Set, Go!

tales from the pit canada (May.18.09)

I'm the first to admit it: I love weddings.

When the vows are taken, I'm not ashamed to say that I well up a lot a bit And when the bouquet is tossed? That's me, at the front-lines, with the volleyball player-worthy dive. (So far the old wives' tale hasn't come true...but that doesn't mean I don't continue to put stock in it.)

And because I'm a sucker for the old Cinderella story (and perhaps because I'm well-entrenched in my "Wedding Years"), I do have some ideas for my very own dream wedding. After all, what gal doesn't occasionally daydream about the big day? (Note to Boyfriend: this blog post is not optional reading.)

The Ring:
It doesn't have to be diamond-studded (although who am I to say no to a little blue box?), but it definitely does have to be creative and original. (Ditto goes for the proposal)

The Invitations:
Stationery? Never one of my passions. But these gorgeous cards are enough to reform even the most devout e-card abuser. Perfect for a noteworthy announcement.

The Bridesmaids:

I feel for Bridesmaids everywhere, and I will not subject my own to seafoam green taffeta or anything they wouldn't want to wear again! Any of these stunning gowns would do the trick, or maybe this infinitely wearable cocktail dress...

The Gown:
I want something timeless, something jaw-dropping, and something that still feels modern. This dress does it all.

The Place
:
I'd adore a tropical destination wedding (a wedding and honeymoon wrapped up in one just seems so easy), but I think I'll end up in a quaint countryside church outside of Toronto somewhere. Just so long as the reception doesn't involve a grassy lawn, I think I'll be set.

Odds and Sods:
I'm taking this list from Ashley Bennion, but it seems like everything I'd actually need on the big day (and then some!).

The Honeymoon:

Paris, bien sur. I've never been, and what could be more romantic than the City of Lights?

Of course, all this is subject to change at a moment's notice (and already has about a zillion times before).

What's your dream wedding? Are you a  longtime planner, like me, or are you waiting until you have a proposal to plan? And if you already are married, tell me all about your big day! I can always use more inspiration!

Jes
