Celebrity make-up artist and COVERGIRL Make-up Pro Greg Wencel shares the season’s trends and tips to achieve coveted looks:
The holidays are the perfect time to experiment with the latest makeup trends. Dramatic makeup is in, so let cosmetics be your ultimate accessory.
Some of my favourite runway beauty trends for Fall/Winter ‘09 are Arch Madness, Luxury Lashes and Kaleidoscope Eyes. You can either pick one trend that will work best for your holiday function or combine all three trends for an ultra glam look.
Luxury Lashes: Office Party Appropriate
For extreme look-at-me lashes with a larger than life effect, use two mascaras, one for volumizing and one for lengthening. This will help you build the lushest lash look possible. First, try a thick coat of volumizing mascara in black for instant fullness and volume. Then apply another coat of lengthening mascara for length and individualized, clump-free impact lashes.
Kaleidoscope Eyes: New Year Glam
A wide variety of bright and bold hues are a dominant trend for ‘09. Think of vibrantly painted smoky eyes in adventurous shades. Versatility is key when getting creative. Experiment with statement colours that might be outside of your comfort zone.
Arch Madness: All Occasions
This season brows went from full and thick to barely there, but both were a hit trend on the runways.
Rock a fuller style brow if you want to define and frame your face and give yourself an edgier look. Use a brow pencil to shape the natural line of the brow, and build until you achieve the density and shape you want. Then set your perfect arches into shape with clear mascara.
Undefined, barely there brows are also super modern and edgy and provide a perfect canvas for countless eye makeup looks. Start by applying concealer to a clean mascara wand, combing the concealer carefully through your brows for good coverage. Then lightly dust loose powder to set. Apply product sparingly to ensure an end result that doesn’t look thick or clumpy.
