With party season coming up, what colour can I paint my nails to translate from outfit to outfit?
Vanessa S. from Toronto, ON. Emailed us at asktheexpert@sweetspot.ca; and our nail expert, Haley Phippard answered:
For the winter party season, the hot colours this year are rich, dark, cherry reds like China Glaze 'Vintage' and 'Drastic' (both are classic cream reds). By Nubar the most popular colours are 'Desire' (a stunning shimmery shiraz) and 'Tres Chic' (a burnt cream red). We’re also seeing a lot of cool metallics like China Glaze 'Beatnik' which is a deep pewter, and Nubar 'Purple Beach' which is a dark grey with shimmery purple and gold hues - both deep reds and greys go great with any outfit and can transition easily from day to night.
If dark colours aren’t your thing we recommend a colour like China Glaze 'Touch of Glamour' which is an elegant creamy colour with a subtle gold shimmer, making it a bit more festive than the neutrals you see with French manicures.
No matter what colour you choose it's always a good idea to keep a bottle of clear polish around to top-coat yourself a day or two after your manicure to delay the onset of polish chipping. Also try to wear rubber gloves when cleaning around the house.
