What kind of changes should I make to my makeup routine when the weather gets warm?
Maggie K. emailed us at expert@sweetspot.ca, and SweetLife beauty expert (and COVERGIRL makeup pro), Greg Wencel answered;
When the weather gets warmer so does your body temperature and it affects the longevity of your makeup. There are a few tips I like to suggest for "weather proofing your makeup routine.”
1. In the summer, less is more, so try using multipurpose products to avoid excessive layering. Try a three-in-one: foundation, SPF and a moisturizer. The COVERGIRL & Olay Simply Ageless foundation provides full coverage and contains Olay Regenerist Serum, keeping your skin hydrated while smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles. Make sure you look for an SPF over 20, a lot of foundations only have an SPF of about 15.
2. Be sure to select a foundation that matches your skin tone! As we spend more time in the sun, our skin gets darker and the worst mistake women make is using their regular shade of foundation on darker skin. Have a few darker shades on hand that you can mix and blend depending on how tanned you get.
3. Switch out your regular mascara for a waterproof variety. With increased humidity or more perspiration, mascara tends to transfer and smudge. Whether you are in the city or on the beach you can rest assure that your waterproof mascara will stay put!
