I know that I should change my hair-care routine in the winter – but how?

Hair care is seasonal, so changing up the products in your hair-care arsenal is always recommended for winter. Weather has a direct effect on our hair, and the change of season will make your hair behave differently. It’s like when you take your winter holidays in the south and you fall in love with your curls all over again — a different climate means different hair behaviour.
I recommend a weather-proofing shampoo and conditioner to start. Look for a combination of silicones, conditioning agents and a UV absorber. This combination improves your hair's manageability by helping to control and tame frizz and flyaways, which are symptoms of cold winter weather. You should also use a styling product that will block out the nasty effects of wet snow on your hair. It will help your hair defend itself against the damaging effects of weather. Reinforce your strands with a weekly treatment and use a silicone shine spray to help prevent static. The best thing to keep in your handbag is a finishing product. Finally, always remember to finish off any winter hairstyle with a hairspray to keep your look locked in. Remember: a little goes a long way. Hold the hairspray at arm’s length when misting over your coiffure!
