I have a Danier leather jacket that is a beige peachy colour. I find the colour of the jacket doesn’t go with anything (including my colouring) but I absolutely love the style of it. Is it possible to re-dye the leather? Do you have any other suggestions?
Linda S. emailed us at expert@sweetspot.ca; and our Danier Leather Expert, Melissa Bishop answered:
Leather is one of the HOTTEST trends this season – you’ll see it everywhere! Because you love the style of your Danier jacket and it’s a neutral colour palate, here are some styling tips that will make you look and feel great:
- For a casual look, pair with a bohemian print shirt (choose a print that complements your skin colouring) and dark denim jeans.
- For a dressier look, mix a brown tweed pant/skirt with a rich chocolate brown turtleneck or blouse.
- To play up your skin tone and features, a scarf is the perfect accessory to complete any outfit.
It is possible to re-dye a leather jacket, however because of the re-dye process you cannot take a light garment and make it dark or a dark garment and make it light. As well, the texture of the jacket will change after re-dying; the texture will be slightly stiffer, which may soften with wear, depending on the leather.
