I love the mini trend for spring, but before I invest in it, I want to make sure I can wear it to the office. Can minis work for work?

Spring is around the corner and one of the trendiest items this season is the mini. Unfortunately, this is not a trend that really works for the office, but don't despair! Both the fitted pleated and pencil skirts are sure-fire ways to add a dynamic new look to your wardrobe (and are great for work)!
The Mini-Skirt or Mini-Dress
Though versatile and fun, the mini is reserved for casual and evening occasions. Try a knit mini in a neutral colour with a bright fitted tank to create a chic day look. Don't be afraid to stand out in an elegant mini-dress, belted at the waist for an evening party. Choose a draped fabric that skims rather than clings to your shape and add a sexy heel to perfectly finish your long-legged silhouette.
The Pleated Skirt
Pleated skirts are everywhere (and in every length) this spring. Their beauty is that they flatter all figures. You can opt for a mini with pin tuck pleats or for a more versatile look that can be worn to the office, opt for a knee length skirt, slightly flared at the knee with box pleats. Combine it with a fitted, bright collared shirt or silk blouse for a stylish, professional look. Keep the top simple (no big prints or embellishments) as the pleated skirt will be the highlight. Be sure to complete the ensemble with a fabulous waist belt.
The High-Waisted Pencil Skirt
This skirt is the ultimate in versatility and should be your new staple piece. It's professional and trendy and works for most body types. Whether you're more slender or curvy, the pencil skirt will create a flattering, feminine classic silhouette. Combine it with a colourful underpinning and a fitted black jacket for a simple up-to-date elegant look. A pencil skirt accentuates the waist and the jacket should do the same, so ensure the jacket is fitted properly. Make sure the skirt is knee-length or falls just below the knees, but no longer. Complete the look with bold, colourful accessories (including shoes).
