Fading Dark Denim

My denim always leaks onto my skin, clothing and even furniture! Is there any way to prevent this from happening?
Heidi U. emailed us at expert@sweetspot.ca, and denim experts from Levi's and Mavi Jeans answered;
Levi's says: Darker jeans will tend to "crock" (lose their dye) more than lighter jeans that have been laundered in the manufacturing process. Home laundering is the best way to have the indigo settle. Usually, washing three to five times will do the trick. Always wash your jeans inside out, in cold water, with as little detergent as possible to minimize fading. Hanging to dry will also help keep them dark.
Mavi Jeans says: Soak your new pair of blue jeans in salt water for an hour and wash them (inside out) on cold cycle afterward. Salt is a fixing agent that can help seal in the dye, but unfortunately, will stiffen the denim.
