Tons of Sweetspotters have emailed us at expert@sweetspot.ca, with questions about how to flatten a stomach, whittle a waistline and streamline jelly in the belly...
Larry TrackAnd our fitness expert, Larry Track, answered:

Unfortunately we can't spot train and just work abs to reduce the belly and get a great stomach. However, a combination of cardio, diet and core training will get you the abs you want. The key: Train your abs like any other muscle group and add some resistance.

Core training: Try these two exercises using 5-15lbs. weights. A) Crunch with the weight behind your head. B) Raise your legs off the ground and heels toward the ceiling. Reach for your toes or squeeze weights between your knees and pull towards your chest. (Don't just move your body or pull your neck...really squeeze your abs with every crunch!)

Diet: Decrease your calorie intake by 500 calories a day and you’ll automatically lose one pound a week. Also, drinking 3-4 litres of water a day with added lemon will help metabolize fat.

Cardio: We all have six packs – some are just covered by fat. Burn that fat away by doing 45 minutes of cardio three times a week. Remember to change up your cardio routine so you keep challenging your body and burning more fat!
