We’ve stretched, pumped, swum and run, and still our tummies mock us.
That is, until we put our jiggly mid-sections through a belly boot camp like no other, thanks to certified fitness instructor Nelika Nardellu and her 2 Hoop hula hoop classes. (Insert pony-tailed childhood flashback here.)
Amateur or seasoned (is there such a thing?) hoopers pump and gyrate like maniacs, and occasionally hoop with a bit of grace. Classes ($25; $50 private available) are thankfully set to music, which helps drown out the sound of hoops clattering to the floor.
But forget the light plastic hoops of youth gone by. This surprisingly difficult workout uses specially made hula hoops created from industrial tubing. (Bigger and heavier means more engaged ab muscles!) Hoops are provided during classes but you can indulge in your very own ($49.99) for hours of home practice.
