About Sales Director
Jenn Price does not proclaim to be an expert on dating…but her years of practice (and willingness to share stories) will certainly get people talking. Join in the dialogue each week as Jenn tackles matters of the heart.
“Hey baby, what’s your sign?” If a guy ever busts that one out on me, I assume he’s not serious (it’s so 1970s) and is just using it as an ice-breaker. (Good on him for making a move.)
How much clout is there behind Astrology and compatibility? Can it actually help us in our quest to find (and keep) love? I’m not sure… but it’s fun to look at the data and compare it with our past, present and potential future loves. So, let’s have some fun….
Rather than focus on the Zodiac, I’ll focus on the Elements (there are four that are essential to making our ecosystem work, with Zodiac signs assigned to each).
FIRE: Aries (Mar 21-Apr 20), Leo (July 23-Aug 21), Sagittarius (Nov 23-Dec 22)
WATER: Cancer (June 22-July 22), Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21), Pisces (Feb 20-Mar 26)
EARTH: Taurus (Apr 21-May 21), Virgo (Aug 22-Sept 23), Capricorn (Dec 23-Jan 20)
AIR: Gemini (May 22-June 21), Libra (Sept 24-Oct 23), Aquarius (Jan 21-Feb 19)
Let's look at an overview on compatibility that I've compiled from the experts:
(like astrology.about.com and hubpages.com)
AIR+FIRE: Fire needs Air to survive; too much can make the flames rage out of control. Air doesn’t need Fire to exist yet it can heat Air and cause it to rise.
EARTH + WATER: Water nourishes Earth so it may grow to its fullest potential. Earth loves water’s life force and its giving energy.
FIRE + EARTH: Fire sets the Earth ablaze with passion; Earth provides Fire with discipline and a grounding force. Earth can contain fire, but when Fire rages it can rob Earth of its life-giving nutrients.
EARTH + AIR: Depending on its mood (and therefore temperature) Air can either provide Earth with loving warmth or cause an icy chill. It can sometimes be a struggle for Earth to get Air to come down to see the world as a beautiful reality, rather than a concept to be analyzed.
AIR + WATER: These can combine to form destructive natural disasters such as tornados, hurricanes and tsunamis or, they can work together if they’re careful not to let small conflicts snowball out of control.
FIRE + WATER: These two need to be careful and must have huge respect for each other for it to work. Downside: Water can douse Fire, and Fire can boil and evaporate water. Upside: Water can provide sensitivity and patience to Fire, which can provide motivation and courage to Water.
TWO OF THE SAME: It is said that two like elements are too much of the same; to grow and expand, we need contrast just like the ecosystem.
I wouldn’t shy away from a guy I felt a connection with just because our “signs” provided more of a warning message than a compatibility one. I trust my gut more than anything but it is fun to make predictions (and sometimes in the challenge of wagering the odds).
