Have you ever found evidence of an ex?
We all know when we get into a relationship with someone new, that there have been loves before us. We all have a past. Another woman may have played house in the same space where you now rule the roost, and they've usually left behind some evidence.
A friend of mine recently moved in with her boyfriend and while searching for something in his dresser, found a pair of underwear (that had obviously not been washed since they were removed — yuck!). Off-putting? Heck yes. But, the fact is, they are the ones who are now in a relationship. He has asked her to be the one sharing his drawers — not the owner of the underwear.
Another one of my girlfriends found an empty condom wrapper in her man’s house (and it wasn’t from her). My response was, “at least he used them before you.” One of our pals suggested that if you ever find a box of condoms in a guy’s place, keep a running count of how many are there. (Of course, this only makes sense if there is suspicion of infidelity. It’s a logical way to keep tabs — just make sure the count is accurate!)
I found shampoo and conditioner in my boyfriend’s bathroom, which is interesting since he’s bald. In a sassy (and jealous) tone, I asked him who it belonged to. He told me he had purchased it for his mom and aunt so they'd have it when they visited. I believed him; it wasn’t as if it had suddenly appeared after we’d been dating for a while.
We would all like to pretend that we are each other's only one, as the more we care for someone, the harder it is to picture them with someone else. I try my best to be thankful for the girls that came before me. They helped to shape a fantastic guy that I now have the pleasure of being with.
