About Jennifer Hughes
Ottawa City Editor Jennifer Hughes has an ongoing love affair with design, art, fashion and food that began many years ago with redecorating her dollhouse or staging impromptu Barbie fashion shows. Now she unearths the best of the above in our vibrant capital city.
Over the holidays, I took some time to purge many years’ worth of magazines from my house. The bulk of my collection (which probably numbered close to 100) is gone, and I feel so much lighter for it. Why suddenly did I feel like I could get rid of them all? One word: Pinterest.
I was never good at clipping and filing single pages to save for future inspiration. Call me a hoarder, but I wanted the whole thing to flip through again at some point. But now, thanks to the brilliance of Pinterest, all my inspiration from the worlds of fashion, design, products, food, craft and decorating is all on one easy-to-use site.
Part of the joy of the site is the somewhat random collection of ideas and items that can be organized in one spot. Whether or not I actually ever do or buy these things remains to be seen. Here are some things I discovered via Pinterest (or pinned so that I remember I want to go back and buy them):

|
This angular gold bangle with multicoloured crystal clusters from Eden & Eden.

A mini wood speaker that naturally amplifies an iPhone.

This gorgeous settee and pillows from West Elm.

|
A super-cute (and affordable!) cream coat from ModCloth.

|
Martina patent leather wedges from J.Crew. So ladylike.
