Carmindy's Beauty Secrets

Based on her latest best-selling novel, Crazy Busy Beautiful, Carmindy (of What Not to Wear fame) shares five of her favourite beauty secrets:
- Use sugar as an exfoliant: You can use this to scrub both your face and body. I don't use anything but white sugar in the shower. Most people are out spending a lot of money on sugar-based exfoliants, but they don't need to. Using white sugar (which can be found in your kitchen!) is going to save you a lot of time and money.
- Reuse broken powders: Don't throw away broken powders. Go to your local pharmacy and get a plastic container, put the broken shadow into the container, chop it up a little more and now you have a loose shadow, bronzer or blush.
- Warm your mascara: A lot of mascaras will dry out really quickly, even before you have to throw them away. Run the tube (sealed) under hot water for about five minutes. This reliquifies the mascara so it's not clumpy and glides on easily.
- Refrigerate your pencils: There's a lot of great eyeliner pencils out there, but some of them can be really hard to sharpen. They can become really soft and gummy, and you never get that sharp point that it came with again. Stick it in the freezer, and leave it in there for a little while until it hardens. It will be much easier to sharpen when you take it out, and will glide on really nicely.
- Customize your own body lotion: This one is a money saver, too! Go to the drugstore, get an inexpensive jug of lotion that's unscented (like a Eucerin). Go home, add some of your luminizing face primer or loose highlight shimmer eye shadow and a couple drops of your favourite perfume or essential oil. Shake it up and you have a custom-made body lotion!
