About May Globus
Vancouver City Editor May Globus is obsessed with the sartorial and all that surrounds it: art, design, culture, music and film. Oh, and she really likes writing about it, too. A left coast girl at heart, her Sweetspot finds just might show why the westside really is the best side.
The last time I looked both underneath my sink and on my makeup tray, what I found there was solid, tangible evidence of my existence as a die-hard product junkie.
Yes, I fully surrender to my addiction for pretty packaging, catchy product names (
Benefit Cosmetics takes the cake on this one) and mascara that promises to give me thick, luscious, glossy lashes.
This is precisely why I was overjoyed at the options right my fingertips during the opening of
Kiss & Makeup's new location, which moved into the old M Smart Design location and, by doing so, nearly tripled in size (in both square footage and inventory!).
Elaine "Lainey Gossip" Lui was on hand with Kiss & Makeup owner Heather Huntingford (who looked lovely in her bold blue maxi dress) to toast the soiree, as guests milled about the store getting makeovers, popping mini cupcakes into their mouths (I recommend the coconut flavour, followed by the lemon), sipping cocktails and deciding between Geisha Ink mascara (which got rave reviews) or Zanerobe clothing (Huntingford is now carrying a well-edited arsenal of apparel).
By night's end, it was so very clear: there was nothing wrong with having just one more magical beauty product on my makeup tray.
And that being said, there was nothing wrong with one more coconut cupcake in my stomach before I left, too.

Cocktails and cupcakes!

Busy, busy.
