After accepting that the fall season had arrived a week ago and after seeing Sweetspot 2.0, I knew it was a time for new beginnings -- or at least the reinvention of things that were already really not half bad to begin with.

Thus began the recent reinvention of my own personal physique, meaning no more sugars (bye bye,
Epicurean Caffe Bistro custard croissants), less high glycemic foods (see you later, jelly beans) and a hardcore session at
PowerVibe Fitness with a brutally buff trainer named Jamille.
Slightly nervous, I stepped into the intimate studio space and came face-to-face with the man who was going to make me work it out for the next 25 (very full) minutes. The piece de resistance at PowerVibe, the whole reason d'etre for this fitness regime, is the Power Plate. It uses mechanical vibrations to force your muscles to contract up to 50 times per second, while cycling through a circuit of static and moving exercises -- for about 45 seconds each -- while standing on its platform.
Jamille made me tricep dip, bicep curl, crunch and plank it with weights, resistance bands and Swiss balls during my session, all of which, combined in different ways, left my muscles and core feeling shaky at best, but determinedly stronger -- and leaving me wanting to go through the whole process again (the infrared sauna post-workout was definitely a plus).
It's no wonder why Madonna (a PV fan) has those massive biceps; it ain't all Ashtanga yoga, you know.
So I raise my Sigg water bottle in toast to a new season, a new Sweetspot look and -- hopefully -- a brand new, buff me.
