About May Globus
Vancouver City Editor May Globus is obsessed with the sartorial and all that surrounds it: art, design, culture, music and film. Oh, and she really likes writing about it, too. A left coast girl at heart, her Sweetspot finds just might show why the westside really is the best side.

The best part of celebrating the holidays is the time spent laughing it up with friends and family, but if I were to pick the second best part of the holidays, the title would go to the endless amount of food and drink.
Tins of Almond Rocha! Fruit cakes! Advent calendar chocolate! Turkey with extra stuffing! Ham and pineapple! Sweet yams! Candy canes! Bottles upon bottle of wine! Ginger molasses cookies! Toblerone! And, of course, liquor-laced egg nog.
Egg nog, spiked or not, is says Christmas more than fake Santas in fake beards at the mall. When the local supermarket begins stocking cartons of this sweet, sweet drink, you know it's officially time to begin shopping for presents (or risk ending up as one of those poor souls racing through the mall come Christmas Eve).
So to celebrate Holiday '09, here is an easy-as-pie recipe for a Gingersnap Egg Nog Martini that I've been practicing to bring to Christmas dinner (though I'm already cutting off certain family members...ahem, mom and gran!).
Ingredients:
1 oz Canton Ginger Liqueur
1/2 oz Godiva White Chocolate Liqueur
1/2 oz Disaronno
2 ounces Egg Nog
1 pinch Cinnamon Sugar
1 Ginger Snap Cookie garnish for each
Directions:
In a mixing glass combine all ingredients, then add ice.
Shake well.
Strain into a chilled martini glass (rimmed in cinnamon sugar).
Garnish with a ginger snap cookie.
Merry Christmas! Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Noel!
Bottoms up to you all.
