About May Globus

Vancouver City Editor May Globus is obsessed with the sartorial and all that surrounds it: art, design, culture, music and film. Oh, and she really likes writing about it, too. A left coast girl at heart, her Sweetspot finds just might show why the westside really is the best side.

Revlon Ready

the view from vancity: revlon canada, Vancouver (Nov.23.11)

They say after winter must come spring.

Revlon and Almay gathered a group of local fashion and beauty junkies at Sugar Studios for a special sneak peek at Spring 2012 collection, set up at mini stations throughout the main room.

Beauty junkies.

After a few taste tests of culinary offerings from Food Network Canada host Anthony Sedlak, the gaggle of us girls (plus a few gents) gathered around one of Revlon's educators, who gave us tips on how to apply a smokey eye, bold  eye shadow and liner using the storied beauty brand's newest products (like the 16-hour-wear Colorstay eye shadow palette and the Colorstay cream gel eye liner). We learned that eye shadow applied in a circular motion allows for easier blending and that eye liner applied close to the lash line is the most effectively dramatic.

Smokey eye tips.

Though Revlon Global Artistic Director Gucci Westman didn't make it out west for the event, tips gathered that rainy evening at Sugar Studios are sure to help make me look presentable during all those holiday parties and family dinners this season.

Intent crowd.

The bonus of the night, however, was getting our own copies of Sedlak's best-selling cookbook The Main signed by the master chef himself.

Spring might not be here just yet, but food and beauty together on any day of the week will do just fine.

Anthony Sedlak, signing books.
